Material Nitronic 60, also designated UNS S21800, is an austenitic stainless steel renowned for its outstanding wear and galling resistance. Alloyed with silicon and manganese, Nitronic 60 provides significantly better resistance to friction and adhesive wear than standard grades such as 304 or 316. At the same time, it offers very good corrosion resistance, high strength even at elevated temperatures, and excellent oxidation resistance. Typical applications include bearings, bolts, nuts, valve stems, pump components and other highly stressed parts used in chemical, energy and marine industries. Thanks to its unique balance of corrosion protection, strength and wear resistance, Nitronic 60 is a preferred specialty stainless steel for demanding service environments.
