The material 1.4841, designated X15CrNiSi25-21 and commercially known as AISI 314, is an austenitic stainless steel. It is characterised by outstanding heat resistance up to around 1150 °C and excellent oxidation resistance in air and oxidising atmospheres. Due to its high chromium and nickel content, 1.4841 provides superior strength at elevated temperatures, while silicon enhances resistance against scaling. Typical applications include furnace parts, burner components, exhaust systems, heat exchangers and equipment for high-temperature plants. This stainless steel combines corrosion resistance with stable mechanical properties even under long-term thermal exposure.
