Material 1.4541, designated X6CrNiTi18-10 and also known as AISI 321 or Z6CNT18-10, is an austenitic stainless steel stabilised with titanium. It is derived from the standard 1.4301 grade but offers improved resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding. This stainless steel is especially suitable for welded structures and components exposed to higher operating temperatures. Typical applications include exhaust systems, heat exchangers, piping, pressure vessels and chemical plant equipment where both corrosion resistance and thermal stability are required.
