The material 1.4441, designated X2CrNiMo18-15-3 and commercially known as AISI LVM, is a vacuum remelted variant of 1.4404 (316L). It is characterised by extremely high purity, very low sulphur and phosphorus content, and excellent corrosion resistance. 1.4441 is mainly used in medical technology for implants, surgical instruments, wires and springs, where outstanding biocompatibility is required. In addition to superior resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-containing environments, this stainless steel provides excellent formability and weldability, making it ideal for the production of complex and precise components.
