The material 1.4435, designated X2CrNiMo18-14-3 and commercially known as AISI 316L or Z6 CND17-12-03, is an austenitic stainless steel. With its higher nickel and molybdenum content, it provides even better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion than 1.4404, particularly in chloride-containing and reducing environments. 1.4435 offers excellent weldability, outstanding corrosion resistance and high toughness, even at sub-zero temperatures.
