The material 1.4123, designated X40CrMoVN16-2 and commercially known as AISI F899 or X40CrMoVN16.02, is a martensitic stainless steel. Alloyed with molybdenum and vanadium, it provides high strength, excellent wear resistance and improved corrosion resistance compared to standard grades such as 1.4034. 1.4123 can be hardened and tempered to achieve high hardness levels while maintaining toughness and reliability. Typical applications include medical technology, especially surgical instruments, cutting and precision tools, and fine mechanical components requiring hardness, cutting performance and corrosion resistance.
