Material 1.4112, designated X90CrMoV18 and also known as AISI 440B, belongs to the group of martensitic stainless steels. This high-alloy stainless steel is characterised by very high hardness, excellent wear resistance and good corrosion resistance. The addition of molybdenum and vanadium improves cutting performance and edge retention, making it especially suitable for knives, surgical instruments, ball bearings and precision components. It is widely used in applications where a combination of hardness, wear resistance and corrosion protection is essential.
