Material 1.4104, designated X14CrMoS17 and also known as AISI 430F or Z13CF17, belongs to the group of martensitic stainless steels. Owing to its sulphur addition, it offers excellent machinability, making it particularly suitable for high-volume production of precision parts. At the same time, it provides good corrosion resistance in mildly aggressive environments and sufficient hardness after heat treatment. Common applications include turned parts, screws, shafts, valves and other components requiring both mechanical strength and easy machinability.
