Material 1.4035, with the designation X46CrS13 and also known as AISI 420F or Z44C14, belongs to the group of martensitic stainless steels. It combines good corrosion resistance in mildly aggressive environments with high hardness and wear resistance after heat treatment. Due to its sulphur addition, this stainless steel shows improved machinability, making it suitable for precision components in automotive engineering, mechanical construction and medical devices. Typical applications include valves, screws, nuts and other parts requiring both strength and easy machinability.
