Its higher carbon content allows it to achieve high hardness, wear resistance and dimensional stability after hardening and tempering. Corrosion resistance is good in mildly aggressive, water-based environments, although it is lower compared to austenitic stainless steels. 1.4034 is typically used for knives, surgical instruments, cutting tools, bearing components, as well as valve and pump parts, where hardness, cutting performance and corrosion protection are essential.
