The material 1.4006, designated X12Cr13 and commercially known as AISI 410 or Z10C13, is a martensitic stainless steel. It offers good corrosion resistance in mildly aggressive environments, combined with high hardness and wear resistance after appropriate heat treatment. 1.4006 can be quenched and tempered to provide a wide range of mechanical properties, from good toughness to high strength. Typical applications include turbine components, pump and valve parts, chemical industry equipment and automotive engineering, where both corrosion resistance and mechanical durability are required.
