1.1211 - Spring steel / Piano wire
Description
Material 1.1211 (spring steel / piano wire) – Properties and Applications
Material 1.1211 is an unalloyed spring steel, commonly referred to as piano wire. It contains approximately 0.80 to 0.95 percent carbon, providing very high strength after cold drawing or heat treatment. 1.1211 offers excellent elasticity, high fatigue resistance and good wear resistance, making it ideal for heavily loaded springs and wires. Typical applications include tension and compression springs, piano strings, wire ropes, spring rings as well as precision components in fine mechanics and watchmaking. With its outstanding balance of elasticity, strength and durability, 1.1211 is one of the most important spring steels used in industry.
